Festival of Saint Agatha

Every year, on February 5th, the city of Catania solemnly celebrates its patron saint, Agatha, martyred in 251 AD, whose reliquary bust is carried all around the city.
The festival of Saint Agatha takes place in Catania for three days of intense worship, from the 3rd to the 5th of February, and it is considered the world’s third largest religious festival of Christianity, gathering more than 1 million people every year.
Great religious devotion, ancient traditions and local folklore blend together in a unique event.
Location: Catania, eastern Sicily, Italy.
