Catania, Sicily, Italy

Right in the beating heart of the historical city center and a few steps away from Piazza Duomo (Dome Square), Via Garibaldi (Garibaldi Street) was built after the major earthquake that destroyed Catania in 1693 and it was formerly known as Via Ferdinandea until Italy’s reunification in 1860. Along this street there are several 18th and 19th century buildings, including the house of the Italian novel writer Giovanni Verga (1840-1922).
