This wonderful small city is about 80kms away from Catania in southeastern Sicily and it is one of the Val di Noto’s late baroque towns. (Unesco World Heritage sites). Caltagirone is also very famous for its renowned and prestigious production of hand-made ceramics and pottery wares.
The “infiorata” (flower decorations) on the beautifully decorated 142-step Staircase of Santa Maria del Monte will take place until today, June 2nd, Italy’s Republic Day.
